Bob Dylan is coming to town -- and bringing his good buddy Mark Knopfler with him for an exceptional double bill.

Dylan -- who releases his new album, "Tempest," on Sept. 11 -- and former Dire Straits leader Knopfler will perform Nov. 13 at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Tickets will go on sale in September. Dylan last played in town during the summer of 2011 at the Meadow Brook Music Festival.

Dylan and Knopfler's association dates back to the former's "Slow Train Coming" album in 1979, which featured Knopfler. Knopfler also played on Dylan's "Down in the Groove" (1988) as well as the 2004 "Is It Rolling Bob? A Reggae Tribute to Bob Dylan" and this year's "Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan," and he produced Dylan's 1983 album "Infidels."
